Herefordshire

We have done survey work, as a Group, in the past for outside organisations in VC 36 (Herefordshire), such as Caring for God’s Acre and also funded by the Bulmer Foundation.

My most recent private work was in Moccas Park Herefordshire for Natural England 2002-2003. I have been recording fungi, mainly in Kent and Herefordshire, for 40+ years. My main interest is with the macrofungi.

Since 2003 I have carried out an average of two surveys per year. This includes five surveys for the Royal Parks & Historic Palaces, including Richmond Park, Kensington Gardens, Bushy Park, Regents Park & Primrose Hill and Home Park. As well as surveys of Hampstead Heath, Queens Wood and Big Wood in NW London. During 2016 I surveyed biodiversity sites around Heathrow Airport.

A mycologist with over 50 years experience, providing nationwide consultancy and expert witness services in a private capacity on diverse aspects of fungi, including applications in forensic cases, mould growth issues in buildings, or advice to publishers and industry. I also teach a variety of courses and workshops on fungus identification, microscopy and barcoding as well as being an Associate Tutor of fungi for the Field Studies Council. I am based in Scotland, but work on projects and teach throughout the UK.
