DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: 31 May.  APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

Eligibility

Travel Grants for IMC12 are available to BMS Members participating in the IMC12 programme as speakers, poster-presenters, session chairs or in other contributory roles. Applicants must have held BMS membership for at least 6 months prior to applying.

What is covered by the grant?

The Travel Grant will cover travel expenses related to participation in the IMC12 meeting, up to a total value of £600.  The amount awarded to individual applicants will depend on the number of applications received.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the online application form.  If the applicant is an Undergraduate or Postgraduate Student, the Supervisor's name and a statement supporting the application is required.

Award criteria

  • A breakdown of travel costs is required
  • Evidence of involvement in IMC12 is required, such as a copy of your invitation or abstract acceptance email.  This should be sent to the BMS by email as soon as it is available, as explained in the application form. Approved grants will only be paid once this evidence is received.
  • Special consideration will be given where other supporting funds have actively been sought, with evidence of this provided.

Assessment of applications

Applications are assessed by a panel comprising the BMS President, Chair of the Fungal Biology Research Committee, and BMS’s IMA representative.

Conditions of the award

The BMS will report on the grants awarded, to be shared on the BMS’s digital channels (website and social media) and in the BMS Members’ Newsletter. Names and affiliations of successful applicants may be included.  We would welcome input to these reports from awardees, in the form of quotes, comments or images relating to their participation in IMC12.

Administration of awards

Applicants will receive notification of the outcome within 3 weeks of the closing date.  If the application is successful, the grant will be paid to the applicant in advance of the Congress, once evidence of participation has been received by the BMS.

Note that Postgraduate Members participating in IMC12 should apply for the travel grant from the Eunice Jones Postgraduate Fund, which offers up to £1,000 per applicant.
