Photo © ama The following are a set of simple fun activities which introduce children to the ‘Kingdom Fungi’. They can be grouped together for a ‘fun with fungi’ day or carried out as individual activities in science lessons. These activities can be modified according to age group and ability. Health and saftey considerations are provided to help when completing risk assessment excersises for each activity. The activities work best when run in a carousel with small groups (with a maximum of 20 per group) although the introduction is best given to the whole year group: Activity 1: Make your favourite fungus Activity 2: How the mushroom got its spots Activity 3: Watch a fungus fizz Activity 4: Mushroom detectives Activity 5: Making a collage of 'fungi in the woodland habitat'
