Our resources and activities aim to raise awareness and increase understanding of fungi and fungal science
The BMS develops resources and activities for all levels and disciplines from junior school through secondary school to university; from newcomers to enthusiasts; including educators and the public.
We have a variety of resources for education, and our flagship outreach event, UK Fungus Day, provides not only information, resources and ideas, but also a mechanism for exchange of knowledge and expertise between fungus enthusiasts, teachers, educators, artists, families and children, businesses and academia; promoting a greater awareness, interest, understanding and fascination of the fungal kingdom.
The Society offers grants to support activities that benefit the mycological community. These include the Massee Arts Grant, which aims to support artists from all disciplines whose work helps encourage engagement and learning about fungi.
The Society’s education and outreach activity is co-ordinated by the Fungal Education and Outreach Committee, who also celebrate outstanding outreach achievements with a Fungal Outreach award.
