Understanding Molecular interactions during infection by biotrophic pathogenic fungi in cereals, using molecular, mass spectrometry tools, with particular focus on cereal powdery mildews. Proteomics analysis during plant pathogens interactions and other (a)biotic stresses
-Proteomic analysis of barley powdery mildew infective structures.
-Investigating the mode of action of effectors or virulence factors of barley powdery mildew using proteomics to understand protein-protein interactions between effectors and their plant targets.
-Devising alternative molecular tools based on RNAi for functional genomic and crop disease control of biotrophs and other wheat pathogens.
-Developing and adapting quantitative proteomics methods for the study of pathogenic fungi and their plant host.
-Supervision of PhD students and MRes students on topics related to above.
