2nd EMBO Workshop on AIDS-related Mycoses
13th to 15th July 2016 Cape Town, South Africa
We are excited to announce the 2nd EMBO Workshop on AIDS-related Mycoses to be held in Cape Town, South Africa from the 13th to the 15th of July 2016. It is a great pleasure to extend an invitation to you to attend this conference if you have a research, laboratory or clinical interest in the intersection of HIV with fungal pathogens.
The 1st AIDS-related Mycoses conference was held in 2013 in Cape Town and was a huge success – bringing together both clinician scientists and basic researchers. The meeting highlighted the importance of these diseases, covered the latest advances in the field, and discussed the challenges facing our field. Not only were many fruitful collaborations established, but our discussions were subsequently published as two articles in Trends in Microbiology
We are now in the process of planning for the 2nd conference that will emphasize study areas ranging from clinical trials of the latest treatment strategies to basic studies of host-pathogen interactions, immunology, drug resistance and genomics. We will bring together an outstanding and diverse group of scientists at the forefront of clinical and basic research in these fields and will make every attempt to include younger scientists and students. Over 40 speakers have already accepted our invitation to attend. We encourage you to consider submitting an abstract for presentation as a poster – those abstract selected as having the highest scientific impact also be included as oral presentations in the conference programme.
The venue has a capacity for 130 people and thus we need to restrict registration to 130 delegates. We therefore urge you to register early if you which to ensure attendance – registration through the website will open in December 2015.
Hope to see you in Cape Town in July 2016!
