Tutor: Thomas Læssøe

Local Organiser: Sue Rogerson

Dates: 31 Oct - 7 Nov 2016

Sue Rogerson is our local organiser for this foray.  We will be staying in holiday lodges with materials provided for self catering continental style breakfast and packed lunches.  The evening meal is not included, but you can choose between eating in the on-site restaurant or take a short walk to the nearby pub or self catering.  Our 'guest mycologist/tutor' for the week will be Thomas Læssøe from Denmark.  We will be foraying at various Hampshire sites including executions into The New Forest.   The New Forest is a former royal hunting area in the south of England. It was created in 1079 by William I (known as William the Conqueror) as a hunting area, principally of deer.  Is now a mosaic of different habitats created through centuries of human management and livestock grazing. It consists of Statutory enclosures, primarily for timber production, and Open Forest which includes “Ancient and Ornamental”  woodland, heath, grassland and valley mires and it is well known to be mycologically rich.
