Area Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire as well as occasional forays in Bucks (joint with Bucks Fungi Group) and occasionally into Cambs.
Details The group grew out of a course that the leader tutored on Fungi at Berkhamsted for 23 years. We have a full programme of forays (running from early September through to May each year). There is a lot of expertise within the group but we also welcome and encourage beginners. Although we are primarily established as a group to record and identify fungi and generally enjoy them a number of our members are interested in collecting them to eat.
Attendances on forays vary considerably with some forays open to the public attracting well over 100 participants. Most forays are on Sundays with a few on Saturdays (as we find Saturday forays generally attract far fewer participants) and a few mid week. Children are welcome but we discourage dogs and some landowners specify no dogs on foray permits so it is important to check programme information if you are intending to bring a dog. Weekend forays are generally all day in the main season, though in two sessions so participants can either come for morning, afternoon or the whole day. Most mid-week forays and those outside the main season are mornings only.
There are generally two mailings a year - a newsletter/ foray programme in August and a main newsletter with foray reports, articles and photos in Dec/Jan.. We have an AGM/ Social get together usually in the Spring. Members are also welcome to bring / send specimens for identification. Information sheets on identification of Mushrooms and toadstools and on cup fungi can be provided if required as can individual tutorials. A workshop is planned for 2010. Subscription is just £4 per year and covers all those of the same surname and living at the same address.

Access Not recommended as even on flat terrain woodland paths can be uneven, have branches, brambles or nettles across them etc
