| Forays |
- Forays are run by and for the members of the Herefordshire Fungus Survey Group. The group is self financing; a membership fee is levied to cover our postage costs and stationary involved in running the group together with the costs of printing and publishing the newsletters.
- Our Public Liability Insurance is covered through the British Mycological Society.
- All forays will be undertaken according to nationally agreed guidelines in the leaflet entitled "The Wild Mushroom Pickers Code of Conduct" published by English Nature.
- Access to private sites is limited to the Group only and other sites can be too small to take large numbers and their cars.
- Dog Owners: Please note that there are instructions for each site. Where it says,”Dogs preferably on leads, please” (mainly, Forestry Commission sites), it is understood that ‘well-controlled dogs’ may be allowed off. Where stock is present, please always keep dogs on a lead.
- Please DO NOT pass on or copy this foray list to other individuals, the press, or local wildlife groups, etc. without the permission of the Chairman or Secretary.
- Some site owners (eg Forestry Commission) specifically prohibit smoking and fires, but it is good practice to apply this to all – especially in woods.
- Please wear suitable footwear to all sites and be prepared for all weathers. Some sites are quite steep, and slippery in bad weather, so please take care at all times.
- Forays are normally from 10.00 am – 12.30 pm (approx.) and many of us then go to a nearby pub for lunch afterwards. Details of these are published nearer the foray dates.
