This promises to be a very interesting foray as we last visited Northern Ireland in 2000. We have secured some additional funding for the foray from Northern Ireland Environment Agency this will pay for an additional tutor as well as offer a subsidy off the price for attendees of approx £70.00 for BMS members and £50.00 for non BMS members.
The Share Centre is close to a wide range of sites ranging from large previously un-visited estate woodlands with associated parklands, wet lakeside and bog woodlands, Hazel dominated woodland on wet calcareous soils, limestone grassland and old oak woods. Whilst a few sites previously visited will be included in the list of sites to visit, recently designated sites such the Marlbank and Florencourt which are known to be mycologically interesting will be new and potentially rich sites to explore. For the more adventurous, we will also be trying to visit some of the small, undisturbed, wooded islands of Lough Erne.
