Hotel Glamour - 072 36 Kaluža 744: Nr. Michalovce, Slovakia
The Hotel Glamour is located on the shore of Lake Šírava, close to the town of Michalovce, in the eastern part of Slovakia. Michalovce is mostly recognized for its adjacent lakes and volcanic Vihorlat mountains, which generate tourism, but are also good for agriculture. According to the latest census, it is among the largest population centres in eastern Slovakia.
The hotel Glamour is located right amongst some of the most mycologically rich forests in Slovakia. There are several nature reserves near to the hotel . The closest is the 257.58 ha Jovsianska Hrabina Nature Reserve with oak-elm-ash floodplain forests & Carpathian oak-hornbeam woods. The Vihorlat Mountains are together with the adjacent Poloniny National Park have a UNESCO classification as “Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and the Ancient Beech Forests of Germany”. During our stay we plan to visit several sites in a range of up to 100 km from the hotel. The dominating type of natural and seminatural habitats are beech forests, but also some hornbeam-oak woods and grasslands are in the area. The Vihorlat Mountains are volcanic, mostly andesites and tuffs, and the geology of other adjacent areas is mainly flysch (with sandstone, claystone) and frequent boggy places.
The transport of participants will be organised from the international airport in Košice by a rented minibuses that will be used also for transport to visiting sites.
Works for the Institute of Botany, Slovak Academy of Sciences. He has recently been working on 'The genus Camarophyllopsis in Europe and North America' and has also published several papers on the Russulaceae and the Clavariaceae.
