Outreach promoting fungal science
Ages 5 to 11 (Key stage 1 and 2)
The aim of BMS Primary School Education is to capture an ‘early’ interest in the fascinating ‘Fungal Kingdom’.
We do this through the provision of teaching resources and fun activities for children in the age range 5 to 11 years (Key stages 1 and 2); elementary school level).
As part of our primary school learning we introduce children to ‘Mycokids’ where they meet cartoon characters who bring the fungal kingdom to life and spread the word that learning a little about ‘fungi’ is ‘fun’.
Click on the Mycokids logo at any stage and enter the world of Dingy Twiglet, Frosty Funnel, Wood Hedgehog and their friends as they explore the Fungal Kingdom and learn more about what fungi can do for ‘us humans’ and our environment. Why not learn some fantastic fungus facts to impress your friends? Show how Frosty Funnel’s friend ‘Fly Agaric’ got his spots and watch how a fungus can fizz! Why not make your favourite fungus using clay or plasticine and find out what your favourite fungus does?
