The focus of the BMS conservation group since its establishment in 1996 is to promote all issues related to fungus conservation. We specialise in 'spreading the word' as widely as possible about the vital nature of fungi in ecosystems and the fundamental need to protect them.

The key to effective conservation is good communication – building information networks. In the UK this is principally between Government agencies concerned with taking forward national and local action plans for fungi and experienced field mycologists. Representation at key UK meetings such as the Fungus Conservation Forum as well as at European and International meetings is integral to this process.
